Patty has a multitude of wonderful qualities. Patty has been socialized with all breed sizes and has no restrictions. She currently lives with 4 other dogs that she got along with right from the beginning. Patty does NOT do well with cats and will not be adopted to a home that has cats. She is not a barker, not overly hyper, nor will she jump all over you and lick you to death. She is more on the reserved side and can be submissive at times.

It is strongly believe that she was abused in her former life but she doesn’t let that get in her way. She aims to please her person. She is sweet, calm and gentle and will allow you to touch any part of her body, including her mouth area, with no problems at all. Patty  LOVES belly rubs.

She is getting better each day with her manners. The kennel is not her favorite place to be as she will start to whine; she would rather have free roam of the house. She does sleep freely at night, and sometimes in the bed when she feels like it. She thoroughly enjoys the company of other dogs and their daily play sessions; she enjoys tug-o-war and chasing the other dogs around the yard with toys but does not play very rough. Patty would do best in a home with a doggie sibling for companionship.

When Patty finds her person, she is loyal and sticks by their side; she currently follows her foster mom around everywhere and will lay next to her in her office as she’s working. Patty does well with kids 12 & older. She has not been around younger, but we believe she would do well, with proper supervision.

Patty also does wonderful riding in vehicles. She is calm and relaxed and just stares out the window in curiosity. Patty knows how to go 'dogatonic' when she doesn't want to do something. It can be quite funny but is easily corrected. Patty does best with a harness when being walked but doesn’t pull much at all. Her foster mom is working with her on ignoring the squirrels and the cats. She is also working on her manners and learning ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘get it’, and ‘leave it’ with multiple different scenarios. She is very food motivated, making it easier to train her.

Patty doesn’t like to be fed right next to other dogs; she needs her own space and to be able to finish her food unbothered by other dogs. She does allow her foster mom to take the bowl at any point. She will get possessive over a bone if another dog tries to take it from her or invade her space; so if given one she will either need to be alone or put in her kennel to enjoy it. Patty would enjoy being with a family or individual that will include her in their daily activities.

Patty was found on a busy Hwy as her foster mom was heading home.. Her past seems to be somewhat sad. She is submissive in certain aspects due to possible abuse, and she also had at least one litter of pups. She is beginning to realize there are good people out there that won’t treat her poorly.

After everything she has gone through, Patty deserves the best possible home with owners that will love her unconditionally no matter what and make her a true part of their family.
