Southern States Rescued Rottweilers, Inc. (SSRR) is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated primarily to the rescue and subsequent placing of Rottweilers that have been lost, abandoned or abused. SSRR is set up under section 501(c)3 of the IRS Code. We are made up of a group of Rottweiler owners and fanciers from several southern states. Our primary goal is to function as a bona fide rescue organization. Our secondary goals include promoting the public's knowledge and appreciation of Rottweilers, and to distribute materials about the health, training and development of Rottweilers, particularly Rottweiler rescues. A knowledgeable volunteer carefully evaluates all Rottweilers that are accepted into the SSRR program. All Rottweilers are placed into foster care until a permanent home can be found. All Rottweilers are spayed or neutered prior to placing. We aggressively seek loving and permanent homes. We utilize word of mouth, personal contacts and the Internet to find suitable homes. All dogs are placed with a contract designed to protect the dog, the new owner and SSRR. SSRR accepts tax-deductible donations from individuals, estates, and corporations. All SSRR representatives are volunteers and none receives a salary, including officers and directors. As our organization grows, we intend to expand our efforts .

ROCKY
Rocky was surrendered to a shelter by his owner. The shelter took care of his vetting, including putting him through heartworm treatment. He was fostered for a few months and then went on an adventure from TN to FL to his new adopters home. Unfortunately, the adopter didn't follow the Decompression Guidelines that we send to all adopter and foster homes. The new adopter notified us within 24 hours that Rocky had to go. He had traveled such a far distance already and we had no fosters in the area, so he went into a boarding facility close to his adopter where he stayed for 2 months.
We moved Rocky to a different boarding facility, more centrally located, but our sweet guy is still there today. While he receives excellent care there and they spend as much time as they can exercising and working with him, it is not the same as being in a real home. He needs much more consistency!
Rocky is a very special boy who desperately needs someone to commit to him. He's a sweet boy who craves attention from his people. He needs someone who is going to allow him ample time to decompress and adjust to his new surroundings. He wants to please you, he just doesn't completely understand what is expected of him. So, he needs a family who is going to teach him how to trust, continue working on his training and show him what it means to be a true family member.
Rocky is doing better at not pulling on the leash, but still has a lot to learn. Basically, Rocky is a full grown puppy. He doesn't realize he's big and he doesn't realize he's strong. For this reason, he can't go to a home with cats or small dogs. He would probably do best to be the only furry child.
If you are willing and able to help Rocky, please email us at rottie.info.ssrr@gmail.com today . |
