Southern States Rescued Rottweilers, Inc. (SSRR) is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated primarily to the rescue and subsequent placing of Rottweilers that have been lost, abandoned or abused. SSRR is set up under section 501(c)3 of the IRS Code.  We are made up of a group of Rottweiler owners and fanciers from several southern states. Our primary goal is to function as a bona fide rescue organization. Our secondary goals include promoting the public's knowledge and appreciation of Rottweilers, and to distribute materials about the health, training and development of Rottweilers, particularly Rottweiler rescues.

A knowledgeable volunteer carefully evaluates all Rottweilers that are accepted into the SSRR program. All Rottweilers are placed into foster care until a permanent home can be found.  All Rottweilers are spayed or neutered prior to placing. We aggressively seek loving and permanent homes. We utilize word of mouth, personal contacts and the Internet to find suitable homes. All dogs are placed with a contract designed to protect the dog, the new owner and SSRR.

SSRR accepts tax-deductible donations from individuals, estates, and corporations. All SSRR representatives are volunteers and none receives a salary, including officers and directors.  As our organization grows, we intend to expand our efforts .

We are in need of foster homes! A foster home is a temporary home for one of our Rotties until SSRR finds a permanent home for the dog. A foster home provides the love and shelter for the dog while SSRR provides and pays for all medical needs.

Being a foster home is not easy. Taking a Rottie into your home, caring for him, loving him, and then letting him go to a new forever home can be very difficult. But, fostering can also be the most rewarding and fulfilling thing a true dog lover can ever do to support dogs in need.

If you are interested in becoming a foster home, please fill out a foster application

ROCKY

ROCKY NEEDS A SPECIAL FOSTER!! Rocky is a beautiful boy who needs a very special type of foster. Rocky needs someone who either has Rottie experience or experience with dogs who want their way. It appears Rocky has been left alone quite a bit. As a result he will do what he can to try and prevent being confined. Don’t get us wrong though. He is NOT aggressive. He will try to get out of a room if he thinks you are going to leave him there. Rocky will need someone he can trust not to leave him alone constantly. He also needs work on his leash manners but is willing to learn. Surprising to us, Rocky does know “sit” and “down” and will do both on command. If you are willing to help this diamond in the rough to be the best dog he can be then please let us know ASAP. We know Rocky is a fabulous boy who has been let down by people in the past. All he needs is someone to train him and show him the love and affection that he deserves.

SAMPSON

Our special boy Sampson needs a special foster family, located in the Houston, TX area . If you are not in the Houston area then please do not apply to foster Sampson. He will not be transported outside of the Houston area at this time.

Sampson is a good boy that hasn’t had much structure in his life. He needs someone who has experience with large breed dogs (Rottweiler preferred) and is willing to provide the parenting and be the role model he needs. Parenting is exactly what Sampson needs in his young life. That does not mean that he will need it in every situation but in the beginning it will be necessary and required.

Sampson’s foster family needs to be able to provide structure without having a neurotic need to indulge his puppyish behavior. His ideal foster family will be one who would love to learn more about training and dog language. It’s fine if you have a dog but we would want to be able to do that introduction with both the people and with the other dog. Sampson’s foster family will need to be willing to go to sessions at his training facility as well as let them come to you for a few transfer sessions to be sure he is in the right place. Sampson would do best in a house without young children or cats.
