Rescues are full throughout the country and we are no exception.  We need an available Foster in order to take any new dogs into SSRR. If you have ever thought about fostering, NOW would be a good time to fill out a foster application. Fostering Saves Lives

Once again SSRR is spotlighting rescued Rottweilers with our 2024 "Rott of the Month" wall calendar. The calendar will feature a different Rottie each month and on the front cover, for a total of 13 photos. Grand Prize winner will grace the cover and 2nd & 3rd place winners will have the opportunity to select the month they'd like to be "Rott of the Month". The remaining winners, 4th thru 13th place, will appear as the Rott of the Month at SSRR's discretion.
Our goal is to present rescued Rottweilers that have been given a second chance at life. We want the world to see how happy these pups are in their loving home environment. Your photo may contain more than one pet. NO PEOPLE, PLEASE!!

Southern States Rescued Rottweilers, Inc. (SSRR) is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated primarily to the rescue and subsequent placing of Rottweilers that have been lost, abandoned or abused. SSRR is set up under section 501(c)3 of the IRS Code.  We are made up of a group of Rottweiler owners and fanciers from several southern states. Our primary goal is to function as a bona fide rescue organization. Our secondary goals include promoting the public's knowledge and appreciation of Rottweilers, and to distribute materials about the health, training and development of Rottweilers, particularly Rottweiler rescues.

A knowledgeable volunteer carefully evaluates all Rottweilers that are accepted into the SSRR program. All Rottweilers are placed into foster care until a permanent home can be found.  All Rottweilers are spayed or neutered prior to placing. We aggressively seek loving and permanent homes. We utilize word of mouth, personal contacts and the Internet to find suitable homes. All dogs are placed with a contract designed to protect the dog, the new owner and SSRR.

SSRR accepts tax-deductible donations from individuals, estates, and corporations. All SSRR representatives are volunteers and none receives a salary, including officers and directors.  As our organization grows, we intend to expand our efforts .

ROCKY - A Special Boy Looking For A Special Family

There is a dog for everyone, and there is someone for EVERY dog. As a rescue, it's our job to find that someone. Could Rock be that dog for you? If you are looking for a single dog that doesn't have to compete with another dog, then Rocky may be the dog for you. If you are looking for a super affectionate dog that loves his people, then Rocky may be the dog for you. If you are looking for a funny, playful boy that's guaranteed to make you laugh then then Rocky may be the dog for you. If you have said yes to the above and live within driving distance of Tallahassee then why not set up an appointment and see if Rocky is the dog for you?

Rocky is currently at Wagland Kennels in Tallahassee where he gets LOTS of play time and interaction with the kennel techs. One young man in particular has taught him all sorts of commands. He is a devilishly handsome boy that loves belly rubs, affection, and to be groomed.  He is very happy and is always wagging his tail.

Rocky is looking for his perfect forever home where he needs a Rottweiler savvy owner that can give him a job to do to keep him occupied and engaged.  He likes to play with rope toys, balls, and sticks and likes to explore his surroundings.  Rocky is a very smart boy so he will try to outsmart you if you are not paying attention.  Keeping doors shut and secured is a must with him because he is lighting fast.  He will be very loyal to the person that gives him the extra attention that he thrives on.

Rocky is a very special boy who desperately needs someone to commit to him. He's a sweet boy who craves attention from his people. He needs someone who is going to allow him ample time to decompress and adjust to his new surroundings. He wants to please, he just doesn't completely understand what is expected of him.  So, he needs a family who is going to teach him how to trust, continue working on his training and show him what it means to be a true family member. His biggest fault is recall.  Rocky only comes when Rocky wants to come.  He is very stubborn and VERY smart.  He knows that if you are trying to get him to do something he can revolt or lay down and you can't move the boulder.  You have to be smarter than Rocky.   A good approach to getting him to do something is to make him think that he wants to do it.

Basically, Rocky is a full grown puppy. He doesn't realize he's big and he doesn't realize he's strong. Rocky will need to be an only dog and cannot be adopted to a home with other animals or small children. We would like to adopt Rocky to a family within driving distance of Wagland Kennels in Tallahassee. You will need to set up an appointment to meet him and see if you and he are a good match.

Rocky is house trained, crate trained, knows basic commands, and walks well on a leash.  Because of his size, he will require an extra-large crate or he won’t go in it. Rocky will make someone a very loyal companion!

We are in need of foster homes! A foster home is a temporary home for one of our Rotties until SSRR finds a permanent home for the dog. A foster home provides the love and shelter for the dog while SSRR provides and pays for all medical needs.

Being a foster home is not easy. Taking a Rottie into your home, caring for him, loving him, and then letting him go to a new forever home can be very difficult. But, fostering can also be the most rewarding and fulfilling thing a true dog lover can ever do to support dogs in need.

If you are interested in becoming a foster home, please fill out a foster application.
