Meet Zues. He'll be about 7 years old in September 2014. Zues has had a hard life and was almost given an early death before he was rescued by SSRR. He lived in a yard, tied up, with the same family for his first 5 years of life. When they moved, they left Zues behind, still tied up in the yard. Animal control was called, and Zues was taken to a high kill facility in NC. He was literally being walked down to the gassing chamber when SSRR was finally given the ok to pull him. He is a lucky guy! Even though Zues had a family for 5 years, he unfortunately had no training and no socialization. He lived in the yard covered in fleas and scabs from scratching so much. When he went to his foster, he didn’t even know how to sit. He now knows how to sit, "gimme paw" (which he does enthusiastically when you have a treat for him!), down, come, and stay. He has truly come such a long way! He went from snarling at his foster mom out of fear and distrust, to lighting up, doing turns, and wiggling his rottie butt and stump when she gets home. This 102 lb boy is truly beautiful in every way. He is fine with the 2 dogs in the home, but he does have a little food aggression. Zeus is waiting for his Rottie experienced forever family to find and adopt him.  Could that family be you?

Zeus is not recommended for, and will not be adopted to a family with kids younger than 13. He takes time to truly get comfortable with people since he had little to no contact with humans the first 5 years of his life.

Step 1:   Please complete the adoption application in full; incomplete applications WILL NOT BE PROCESSED

Step 2:   Our Lead Adoption Coordinator will contact you and confirm your application has been received (please use our Contact Us form if you have not gotten a response within 7 days).

Step 3:   After you have received confirmation from our Lead Adoption Coordinator, your application will then be forwarded to communicate with one of our Adoption Coordinators.  The Adoption Coordinator is your point of contact during the adoption process.  

Step 4:   Once the Adoption Coordinator has finished processing your application, a volunteer will be selected to contact you to schedule a home visit. Home visits allow us to see where the dog will live, discuss any questions you have and review our adoption contract.

Step 5:   Once the application process is completed, the adoption package goes to the board of directors for a 24 hour review.
