The annual SSRR Christmas Medical Fund Auction is here! I wanted to take a minute and explain how important this auction is to SSRR. October was a fierce month in rescue; SSRR welcomed NINE new additions to our family!!

Hurricane Harvey displaced many humans and animals in Texas, causing one of the largest rescue efforts in Texas to help the homeless. SSRR teamed up with 3 other Rottweiler rescues to work together to help place Harvey Rottweilers in need. Three of our 9 additions are from this effort: Harley, Scout and Cindy. All three came in within urgent medical conditions. Harley had an open, infected mass and wound on his body. Scout, nearly drowned and had to be rescued by boat, she is Heartworm positive. Cindy came in with an injured leg that may need to be amputated but we are doing all we can to try to save it.

October also brought with it the opportunity to welcome another Rottweiler into our Place of Hope (POH) program for senior dogs needing hospice care. Sequin, is our newest POH girl. She was abandoned by her family after many years of loyalty. She was a shelter sweetheart at 11 years young. She is heartworm positive and has multiple mammary tumors. We are in the process of providing her with the care she needs to make her comfortable. She is enjoying being a rescued Rottweiler in a loving foster home.

Other new members are Franziska, who ended up having a life-saving spay surgery in which it was discovered she had pyrometra. Marlowe was discovered to have hearing loss after arriving in his foster home. These two dogs are getting the medical care they need to have a second chance.

Our final rescue for October was adorable baby Pickle. At only 6 months, Pickle was found in an empty field, abandoned with a sheet over her. It was discovered that she had a badly broken leg and she was taken to the shelter. SSRR stepped up and pulled Pickle from the shelter as soon as her stray hold was over and rushed her to an ER vet to try to save her leg. Pickle had surgery to try to save her leg this week and is currently recovering in her awesome foster home.
Please keep Pickle , and other October Rottweilers in your thoughts as they all have their own medical battle ahead as they learn to become loving, well cared for pets again.

As you can imagine, taking in so many Rottweilers with extensive medical needs in one month is quite expensive. SSRR is committed to providing our dogs with the best options possible for a successful and happy recovery.

Please bid (if you can). If you do bid, please honor your bids when the auction is over. Please share our auction with your friends and family. If you would like to make a separate donation to our SSRR medical fund, you can do that through our Paypal account at https://goo.gl/Psyt64

SSRR is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated primarily to the rescue and subsequent placing of Rottweilers that have been lost, abandoned or abused. SSRR is set up under section 501(c)3 of the IRS Code.

So far in 2019, we have brought 41 new rottweilers into our rescue. Last year alone we spent in excess of $46,000. Many of the Rotties we rescue are hours away from being euthanized. When SSRR rescues a Rottie, it is our dog for better or worse. We don’t abandon our dogs and will do everything we possibly can for them from vaccines up to and including Hip Replacement Surgery.

We took Ozzie into rescue from Tri-City Animal Shelter in Cedar Hill, TX. He was an owner surrender with a dislocated hip. One of our awesome volunteers took him to the Vet immediately after picking him up. Unfortunately, the vet was unable to do anything to correct his hip and has referred him to the Dallas Surgery Center for surgical repair.

The vet felt that Ozzie's injury was at least 6 weeks old. He was completely covered with fleas and has severe skin and ear infection s. He also feels he spent a great deal of time in a cage based on the wear on his teeth. So, it seems his "owners" did him a favor turning him in, but we wish they had done it when he was immediately injured.

Ozzie's case makes our upcoming fundraiser even more crucial, as he is going to require a lot of care and an expensive surgery to repair the damage that has been done. Please consider purchasing Rottie Lottie tickets to help us replenish our medical funds.
